What have you done in twenty one one?

It’s 4 days into the new year. Those of you that made a resolution(s) are either already disappointed that you failed or still going strong. Hopefully the latter. I don’t really care for resolutions but I am big on goal setting in both my personal and professional lives.

So far in 2011 I am still going strong on my goals. Personally, I chose to cut back on my phone time as my main goal. Now by “phone time” I am in no way referring to actual time spent talking on the phone. Ironically, talking is what I spend the least amount of time doing on my phone. It’s everything else I do on my phone that’s the problem. I’m trying hard not to give in to the temptation to play games, text, facebook and surf the internet every time I have an idle moment. Now don’t get me wrong, I need to be available by text for my friend in Utah who is in the midst of withdrawals from her former diet coke addiction and if its a close game on my Words With Friends board (think Scrabble) I’m going to have to play my turn but the goal is not to stop doing these things I so enjoy, it’s to do them in moderation.  And so far I’m doing all right!

Professionally, my goal is to obviously sell more homes (no real shocker there). I haven’t sold one in the first 4 days of the new year but I am holding myself responsible for doing something each day to help me get there. Just today I asked someone if they needed an agent for an upcoming move and yesterday I asked a friend for the contact information for someone I heard wanted to sell (turns out they aren’t selling and they have their own agent but that’s beside the point…you can’t win them all!)  I’m setting up my paperless listing presentation on my beloved iPad and hoping for the chance to present it to a boatload of potential sellers throughout 2011.  My website is getting a makeover and I am trying to get 300 fans on my Cara in the House page (I currently have 270).  I would like nothing more than to see my blog readership increase and watch my site stats spike (it’s a blog thing!) I’m staying positive which also means surrounding myself with positive people (thanks to those of you in my circle that are always positive…you know who you are!) I think 2011 will be a great year!

I hope your goals or resolutions or whatever you refer to them as are giving you something to work towards this year. If you have one you’d like to share, I look forward to reading it in the comments section…just as soon as I check my facebook page and text my friend in Utah!

So far so good for me. One of mine was to get movie streaming set up since it’s ridiculous we haven’t done it yet — and I just did that today! You helped me by sending that notice of Windermere’s electronics recycling event because now I can dump the TV that hasn’t worked in years and our old BBQ this weekend, another resolution. So, thanks!

I set the bar low this year — my only resolution is to drink more water – blah – but so far so good.

I was going to try the whole cut back on Facebook, text but I know that’s just a set up for failure.

I have know you’ll meet all your goal this year!
