The 80/20 Rule

Most of us know the saying that 20% of the sales people get 80% of the business. Real estate tends to be a little more precise and today I heard the quote that 13% of the agents do 87% of the business. This was confirmed about an hour later when I was driving along Alki in West Seattle and saw the same agent listing about 5 different properties all within a 1 mile span. The follow up quote to that was that 80% of agents who get their license today will not renew a second time.  The point? It’s a tough world out there and nobody knows that better than me. My goal starting now is to work my way into that 13% and become a bigger fish in that gynormous pond out there!

So is announcing that goal on my blog going to get me there? It’s sure as heck a good start. I don’t want to over-statistic you to death but I also heard that people who write their goals down are more likely to obtain those goals. Unfortunately, that’s not the only thing that will get me there. I am going to make a commitment to go into the office on a regular basis, keep up with my sphere of influence (big fancy word for “people I have a relationship with”) and try to reach more people with my blog (thank you if you are reading this!) I know there’s more to it than that but it’s a good start. Stay tuned and watch me grow!
