Summer lovin’ in Kirkland

No more pencils, no more books – and especially true in my family: no more teachers’ dirty looks!  School’s out for summer! Thanks Alice Cooper. I certainly felt your excitement on that last day of school, but now that we are in the early days of 60, how will we ever fill the long days and nights?

You can’t beat summer in Kirkland with the sun glinting off the lake, the boulevard packed with people and warm nights… Here’s a list of fun things to do until we are back to fleece and boots. Residents and non-residents are all welcome!

  1. Fourth of July parade: this is the best small town parade you ever did see! Bring your red, white and blue but get there early because the streets fill up fast. After the parade, head to Marina Park for fun family activities, food and music. Settle in because the fireworks at 10:15 are a must see!
  2. Kirkland Uncorked: this event gets more and more popular every year.  Warning: this is only for people who like good wine and great food – and beer and cocktails if wine isn’t your thing. Don’t miss it July 15-17.
  3. Kirkland Wednesday Market: each Wednesday you now have an excuse to stay out of the kitchen. Down at Marina Park from 2-7 pm you can sample food from different local food trucks and stock up on fresh produce and flowers.
  4. Juanita Friday Market: start your weekend off right at Juanita Beach. Fridays from 3-7 pm you can enjoy good food, crafts and live music! Can’t beat that. Bring your dog too!
  5. Carillon Point Outdoor Movies: get out of your hot house and catch a flick in one of the prettiest settings around. Movies are alternating Saturdays in July and August.
  6. Kirkland Classic Car Show: hot rides, hot damn! Vintage cars will line Kirkland streets on July 31st from 10 am -4 pm.5996173202_8226e3af13_q
  7. Kirkland Summerfest: music, food, art, beer garden. BEER GARDEN. Don’t miss it August 12 & 13.
  8. Junior Softball World Series: way more fun than you think! Hosted right here at Everest Park August 2 – 8, you can be up close and personal with all the action, and rub elbows with the folks from ESPN.

I hope to see you at one of these great events. If buying or selling your home is your great event for the summer, invite me along!
