I have truly been inspired by some of your Christmas spirit this holiday season. I have also doubled over with laughter. Let me explain…

I know this time of year many of us take some time to reflect on what we are most thankful for. Well in true Cara in the House style, I have turned it into a top 10 list and have added a twist of humor. Here is what I’m most thankful for this year…

It’s the age old question: price a home to compensate for some outdated features or update the home and try to get more money? Ok, that is in no way an age old question and I apologize. The age old question is more like “what came first, the chicken or the egg?” Now that we’re clear on age old questions, let’s get down to business.

Last week in my every-other-Monday staff meeting where I religiously sit in the back row in the exact same chair with my coffee and notes balances strategically on my lap, I heard some pretty interesting statistics. The topic was technology and what Windermere is doing to help its agents stay up to date on the latest technology. By the way, we are no longer called agents; we are brokers. Anyway, not important. What is important are the statistics which I will share with you. (Unfortunately I can’t share the source of these stats because I didn’t write it down and since I can barely read what I write anyway, it probably wouldn’t have mattered if I had wrote it down or not.)

What do roofs, gutters, hot water heaters, and furnaces have in common? Besides the fact that they all have an “s” at the end, they are all pretty critical components of a home that need to be in working order at all times. There are many others components that also fall into this category that I’ve so lovingly named “the unglamorous items.”
