Guest star

A friend of mine writes a great blog called Just the Simple Things. Today I was the special guest star and it has nothing to do with real estate! Here is what I wrote:

I love this blog. It’s so good to remind yourself of the simple things in life that make you happy. I have gotten gobs of enjoyment out of all the posts on this site so when I was asked to guest blog many months ago I really wanted to pick the perfect “simple thing.” I have racked my brain every day and although I do have a lot of simple pleasures, they just weren’t interesting enough to write about. For example, as much as I love my bright yellow watch (that was the best $10 bucks I’ve ever spent) there isn’t really much more to say other than it’s really super cute. So, today while I was at Starbucks my post started writing itself in my head.

It all began when I was at a stoplight on my way to meet a client. We were out of coffee at home and I knew I needed to hit a Starbucks sometime soon before the caffeine headache set in. I had remembered my friend telling me she uses her iPhone to pay for her drinks at Starbucks…yep, there’s an app for that. So, while at this stoplight I downloaded the app, prepaid for the card on the app and 30 minutes later walked into a Starbucks (sans wallet) and proudly held up my phone. For a split second I thought “What if the barista looks at me like I’m Koo Koo Banana Pants (thanks for that word Sheila) and this really is too good to be true?” But no, she held out her little scanner gun, scanned my phone and said “Have a great day!” Wow, how easy is that? And let’s face it, isn’t it really all about the simple things?

Just one step closer to a cashless society Cara….simple things now may have major repurcussions later.
    good post though!

You have wonderful friends which means you must be too – so I’ll definitely use you for my real estate needs.

Love the idea of POS with your cell phone. It’s being piloted in Haiti, where many people don’t have bank accounts.
